This morning, Cumberland County College hosted their Annual
High School Counselors’ Breakfast. This informational event updates
counselors county-wide to the exciting new opportunities and changes happening
on CCC’s campus. Today, the program was concluded by recognizing a school
counselor for their outstanding service to students in their transition to
Cumberland County College. This year, the counselor recognized was our
own David Vorndran for his dedication and service to our students in
Millville! Congratulations Mr. Vorndran!!!

Save the Date: Annual Scheduling Fair on January 7th, 2016
The Millville High School Guidance
Department will be hosting our annual Scheduling Fair the
week we return from our Winter Break on the evening of Thursday, January 7th
at 6:45 pm. The fair will be located at Millville Senior High School on Wade
Boulevard and is open to any parent/guardian and student who will be in high
school during the 2016-2017 school year. This is a great opportunity for parents and students to find out more about the classes offered
at Millville High School and talk with teachers from both Memorial and
MSHS. For instance, did you know that Millville students can earn college
credit in over 25 different classes while in high school? Teachers will have
tables set up with information about classes and parents will be able to walk
around and talk to them about specific subjects. Attendees will also be able to
talk with Guidance Counselors and Administrators. All students who will be in
high school next year and their families are invited to arrive at the Millville
Senior High School on Wade Boulevard at 6:45 pm on January 7th so we
encourage you to mark your calendar now and save the date so that you do not
miss this great opportunity.
Upcoming Events: Free Financial Aid Workshop at MSHS
The Millville High School Guidance Department will be hosting a free
financial aid workshop on Tuesday, January 5th, 2016 at 7:00 pm in
the Millville Senior High School blue cafeteria. This workshop will help
students and their parents with the financial aid process and the FAFSA, which
must be completed to receive any financial aid. A guest speaker will be
on hand to help parents and students navigate the financial aid process. FAFSA
forms and additional information will be distributed. For seniors and their
parents, this event is highly recommended. Underclassmen will learn what they should be
doing now to prepare for the future. Seniors will learn what they must do
NOW in order to be eligible for financial aid. Please mark your calendars and
save the date of January 5th at 7:00 pm to attend our free Financial
Aid night at Millville Senior High School. If you have any questions, please

School Counts Information
During the month of November, all students will be
enrolled into the School Counts! program sponsored by Cumberland County College automatically. School Counts! rewards students for good attendance and grades. To maintain eligibility
throughout the year, students cannot receive a grade below a "C" and must not
have more nine (9) absences or lates combined. More information about the School

RESPECT WEEK is a GREAT SUCCESS
Last week, students at Memorial and MSHS participated in several events that promoted RESPECT. Here is a recap of last week's great events:
MONDAY, 10/5
Wear BLUE DAY to STOP BULLYING in our school started off the week.
Our art teachers also promoted a school wide art poster
contest.
TUESDAY, 10/6
As we celebrated RESPECT WEEK all students and staff were invited to sign an anti-bullying pledge located on the wall of the cafeteria. Together we can make a difference!
WEDNESDAY, 10/7
Have you done something nice for
someone lately? Our school sponsored a “Caught in the Act” promotion. If you were caught in the act of doing something kind
for another person, you could be awarded with a FREE Cookie Coupon. You never
know who will be watching! Do something nice today!
THURSDAY, 10/8
Thursday is Unity of Community Today. We announced the stars of our Bully Free Art Contest. Thank you to all who have participated.

School Spirit Day. Students and staff wore their orange and blue! We hope the message of caring for one
another lasts throughout the year. Please remember the messages that you
learned this week. We are Millville High School, a bully free school!

PSAT Being Offered at Memorial and the Sr. High
The PSAT is being
given at Memorial and the Sr. High School on Wednesday, October 14th. The PSAT is the official practice test for the SAT. The
fee to take the test is $15. Students who are planning to go directly to a 4-year college after
high school are encouraged to take the test. If you are interested,
please sign up in the Guidance Office by, Thursday, October 8th.
College Admissions Night
We will be hosting our annual College Admission Night on Wednesday Night, October 7th at 7:00 pm in the MSHS auditorium. All parents and students from both MSHS and Memorial are invited. Topics include picking the right college, the application process, testing, essays, recommendations, financial aid and more. Please come out and join us for an informative evening. Counselors will be on hand to answer questions at the conclusion of the program.
