Annual College Admissions Night Receives Positive Reviews

Last night the counselors at MHS held their annual College Admissions Seminar for parents and students.  The night was a huge success as the average attendance more than doubled.  There were over 200 people in attendance and the Guidance Department received positive reviews from both parents and students!  The college admissions process is very involved and the counselors did an excellent job of breaking it down to manageable steps.

A few of the highlights included:

A guest appearance from a few of our AVID students including Peter Moran, Jessica Sheldon, and Constance Selinsky, who spoke about the importance of going on college visits.

A former graduate, Ashli Weems, who is now a student-athlete at Fairleigh Dickinson University, took a video of her dorm room so that students could see what a typical room looks like.

Also, on hand was a representative from DVR for students who have IEP’s so that she could talk to them individually about services after completing high school.

Finally, we showed off our new social media – the Thunderbolt School Counseling Blog and the @MSHSGuidance Twitter feed, as we are doing our best to enter the digital age!
